On August 4, BitGo announced it would adopt Chainlink's CCIP as the exclusive cross-chain infrastructure for WBTC โ€” not just for new issuance, but retroactively. Every future BitGo-issued asset gets the same pipeline. The migration covers roughly $7.7 billion in wrapped Bitcoin, and no DAO vote was recorded. No community snapshot. Here's the part DeFi protocols must internalize: the CCIP migration creates a soft fork across WBTC's entire integration ecosystem.
